The picture above wouldn’t be my ideal spot for reading as, for a start, there aren’t enough books on the shelves. It looks as if someone is in the process of moving house, and I’d be itching to tidy up before snuggling down. Maybe you prefer a sofa to a chair. Or to be tucked up in bed. Or on a long train journey. Or in a café, windows steamy, the gentle buzz of conversation as the background soundtrack, a mug of coffee on the table in front of you. Or all/any of these spots because diving into a book is for any time, any place, anywhere.
Reading time is precious time, which is why I’ve been holding back from publishing this interview because it felt like a piece for longer nights, shorter days, when there’s time to sit a-while.
